Soil Temperature Retrieval Using Multi-sensor Data

Power Point Presentation

The retrieval of soil moisture from passive microwave data requires an estimate of the effective soil temperature. This information is supplied through thermal infrared measurements. The interpretation of the thermal data is complicated by diurnal variations in the soil temperature gradient and spatial variability in vegetation coverage. We present a methodology in which visible and near-infrared data might be used to account for the effects of vegetation.
