Comparison Between Soil Moisture Geographic Patterns and SPOT/VEGETATON Spectral Indices

The NAFE06 field campaign provides us with time and geographic distribution of the Soil Moisture on regional and farm scales. We present a comparison of these patterns with images of optical vegetations indices acquired by the SPOT/VEGETATION and MODIS satellites. Accounting for 10 years of available SPOT/VEGETATION time series (from 1998 to 2007), we will also discuss and illustrate the contrast between NAFE 05 and NAFE 06 in term of land use land cover and meteorological conditions.
